Very nice staff in Same-Day Surgery. While waiting on patients, caregivers are kept updated at each step in the process. Great Breakfast seved in cafeteria!

Such an outstanding experience. Rather than the typical preop room with curtains for privacy my husband got a room with a door and a TV. One of the employees even came around with yummy cookies! They have a cafeteria, coffee shop (got a latte and it was amazing!), and even had some live soothing music for part of our day. Everyone was so kind and helpful. They have a color coded tracking system to monitor your loved ones progress for the same day surgery process. Wouldn't want to receive care anywhere else!

Everyone was so nice and informative. I had knee surgery, which they told me could be same day or I could end up spending the night depending on how I was doing after surgery. I stayed one night on the 5th floor. The nurses there were great. They were super nice, especially Rea. I hope I'm spelling her name right. I have no complaints. They were always eager to help me.😊

Admittedly, I didn't have high expectations for my outpatient procedure experience at UAB West after perusing through all the negative reviews. But I'm glad to say, that I was pleasantly surprised! The entire staff was efficient, warm friendly and very personable. From the PCTs to the nurses to the wonderful chaplain that prayed with me prior to my procedure to the surgical techs, the anesthesiologist & Dr. Paul (who did my procedure), I genuinely felt that I was in good hands throughout my entire 3 hour stay. And the facility itself was beautiful, clean and top-notch. I wouldn't hesitate to seek care there again. My only regret is that I can’t remember all their names so that I can thank and recognize them all individually. 🥰 🤗🙏🏽

8 years ago I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I saw Dr. Huh at O’Neal Clinic. Dr Huh is wonderful as well as his entire staff. I see him about every 6 months for follow-ups. On Jan 31,2025 I had a follow-up and saw Katie his PA. She is so kind and a wonderful addition to Dr. Huh’s clinic. On this visit I was explaining to Katie how I had been having really bad falls that then turned into passing out. I had 4 syncope episodes the week before my Jan. 31 appointment. Katie immediately wanted me to go to UAB ER for a head MRI. I did and while there they drew blood work and my cardiac enzymes were elevated so I was admitted to UAB Highlands for the weekend. They were absolutely wonderful. Everyone I encountered during my stay were just the most considerate staff members. I felt so well taken care of and in the best hands. I cannot say enough about the staff.

UAB Highlands is a great Hospital. I had an MRI today and couldn't believe how FILTHY the floors and carpet were. Please make sure to double up on your socks!

Ms. Sharron Rn on the 5th floor North side 7p-7a hands down best nurse ever! Thank you for taking care of me. She was very kind, helpful, didn’t have any issues giving me medication as scheduled. 10 outta 10 would recommend 🙏🏾. Not too many nurses checked on me when it wasn’t time for medication but she did. Thank you from the Hall family! I’d also like to give a shout out to RN Tess (7a-7p) for being another nurse to go above and beyond for her residents. I can’t say this about every nurse because I have encountered some nurses at this same facility that genuinely didn’t care, but these two ladies are very special. I feel as if they set the standard for nurses and how nurses should treat patients. These two ladies are an inspiration. Thank you for taking care of me in my time of need. I’ve never had to stay at a hospital facility longer than a few hours. But they made me as comfortable as possible throughout my 4 day stay and gave me constant reassurance. I’m so very grateful to have such beautiful people in my life.

I had an unfortunate event where my hand was burned, and my son brought me to the smaller hospital for quicker service. We arrived around 9 pm. The waiting room was empty. All of the staff that I encountered were really caring and professional. Rose in triage was friendly. But I definitely want to shout out the two RNs Brittany and Meg. They were EXCEPTIONAL!!! They worked on my hand, debriding it for at least an hour or so. They were so incredibly gentle and kind and thorough. It was clear that they really care about their job and the patients that they’re taking care of and I loved to see that. My son even mentioned how wonderful they were as we were leaving. The resident Dr. Degeare and another provider working with him that came in were both wonderful. They took into consideration my desire to not have pain meds, but kindly offered it if I changed my mind. This is my first encounter with this emergency room at UAB Highlands, and I’m very happy with my experience here!

Nurse Porshia on the 5th Floor Ortho Surgery is absolutely amazing. She has been my nurse during two different hospital stays, and each time she has shown nothing but kindness, compassion, and dedication. She truly goes above and beyond for her patients and does everything she can to make sure they are comfortable, cared for, and supported. Her empathy and professionalism make such a difference, and I am incredibly grateful for her care.
